IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY - Please note seed is a live product which depends on many important related grower skills such as proper planting time, seed depth, and type of soil, watering, proper use of fertilizers, weed controls, fungicides, insecticides, disease free soil, and reasonable weather conditions during the growing period. Germination is affected by such factors as temperature, moisture content, light intensity and contamination of planting media. Although we do everything possible to get seeds to you in the best possible condition far exceeding legal requirements and will provide as much help as possible, these factors are totally outside of our control and once you receive the seeds its over to you. Consequently, we can take no responsibility for the suitability to your local conditions of any variety offered, the indicative cultivation advice provided or ultimately the varieties performance. As such you should seek local advice to carefully ensure your local conditions and the time of season are appropriate to the variety purchased.
Papaveraceae: annual growing
to 122-152cm (4-5 feet) in height, hardy to Zone 7. Flowering from June to
July, and the seeds ripen from Aug to September, Seeds are eaten raw or cooked,
and much used as flavouring in cakes, bread, fruit salads, and have very nice
nutty flavour, the opium poppy contains a wide range of alkaloids and has been
a very valuable medicine, especially useful in bringing relief from pain. Its
use (especially of the extracted alkaloids opium and morphine which it
contains) can become addictive. Not known in a truly wild situation, possibly
native to Europe to Asia, though the original habitat is obscure, a casual in wild
flower in Britain. Fertile well drained soil in full sun, Sow in spring on the
surface of sow seeds in spring in situ. Growing Poppies
Plants to three feet in height, flowers come in all shades of pink through to red, medium sized round pods, very pretty, but seem to struggle a bit with cold weather.
Seed will be very limited
Another fantastic genuine Afghan poppy, that needs to be sown early if you want large plants, fast to germinate and to flower, strong plants to 4 - 5 feet, large pure white flowers, followed by large barrel shaped pods, high yield, a top quality alkaloid rich poppy, white seeds.
Seeds need to be sown early to do well, as they will bolt if sown too late in the summer
Seeds need to be sown early to do well, as they will bolt if sown too late in the summer
Red, white and purple blooms, 4-5” across, tall plants that tend to lean with weight of the many huge smooth egg shaped pods that are produced, a high alkaloid rich poppy.
[Notes: This is another poppy that originated from Izmir Farm, it fits the description of their Asian O.B. down to the finest detail, and in my opinion this is the 'Izmir Asian O.B.' But this came in a seeds packet named Izmir Turkish Giants (gift), Their Turkish Giants had red and black flowers and large round pods, this plant doesn't.]
I know nothing about the origin of this poppy other than its
named China red, very strong fast growing plants to about 5-6 feet in height,
late to flower, lots and lots of flowers and pods per plant, which are large
red or pink with dark basal spots, medium sized smooth round pods, which
produce a fantastic about of seeds.
This poppy is a real show stopper!!!
SEED WILL BE AVAILABLE LATE SUMMER 2014
Same as last year, only I have selected the seed from the largest pods to grow this year, bigger and better.
Same as last year, only I have selected the seed from the largest pods to grow this year, bigger and better.
Fast to germinate and moderately fast to flower, strong
plants to six feet or more in height, large flowers white with purple base
spots through to purple with darker purple base spots, also contains cut
petalled flowers in the mix, very large pear shaped ribbed pods, similar to
Alcaliber, fantastic poppy, planted on mass it makes for a beautiful sight, my
favourite poppy for 2013.
The chap how gave me these seeds, wanted me to save the seed
from the plants that produced streaky flowers, and send him half, he insisted
to the streaky flowered plants produced off the scale alkaloid levels. I sent
him some seeds from another poppy for a trade, and have never heard from him
since, so he ain't getting any.
This poppy has preformed well for me in latter sowing

HUNGARIAN #2 'SAHIR' [strippy]
THE WEATHER HAS TAKEN ITS TOLE ON THESE AGAIN, SO THERE WILL BE VERY LIMITED SEED AVAILABLE THIS YEAR, SORRY!
Original obtained from the Izmir Farm website that seems to have bitten the dust, he is supposed to have received directly from Afghanistan, very nice genuine Afghan poppy, good plants will reach 3 - 4 feet in height, large pink and white flowers, followed by large barrel shaped pods, seeds need to be in the ground early as later sowing will bolt, high yield, a top quality alkaloid rich poppy, white seeds.
These poppies always produce less seeds than any other poppy, hence the higher price, I always sell out before I have a new batch to sell, so if you what these seeds get them early.
Seeds need to be sown early to do well, as they will bolt if sown too late in the summer
[Notes: Galania: Height 4 feet or less, flowers white with pink or dark pink border, size of capsule 3” x 2”, and round, oblong and flattened a little on top, colour of capsule dark green, yield more opium and less seed than Dhaturia, colour of opium light brown.]

Izmir Afghan Pink & White
KYKEON AFGHAN WHITE
I singled out one pure white frilly poppy from the batch of Izmir Afghan grown last summer, this poppy was larger and more vigorous than all the rest, proving to me that this poppy is more suited to my growing conditions, this has led me to sowing a bed of it this year, and it has performed well, large sturdy plants that have stood up to the very variable British weather. 3’ or more in height, white frilly flowers and large barrel shaped frosted pods, if you have struggled with Afghan’s due to variable weather like I do, give this clone a try.

Red, white and purple blooms, 4-5” across, tall plants and gigantic oblong ribbed pods, I can only imagine that O.B. stands for oblong, but I could be wrong, you only tend to get one or two pods per plant.

This is the Izmir special bought from the now defunct Izmir
Farm in Canada, allegedly imported straight from a poppy farm in Tasmania, out
of all the Taz poppies I have grown to date, this one seems in be one of the
most genuine, this is without a doubt a supra pharmaceutical poppy, plants grow
to around 4 feet and produce a light pink to almost white flower in about 60
days from germination. Each plant will only produce one to three gigantic
ridded oval pods; some of the pods are almost completely black in colour.
This poppy has preformed well for me in latter sowing
This is the genuine article and it will blow your socks off, seed should be available in bulk order.

This is the result of a cross I made back in 2012, most
turned out to resemble a reddish purple Extaz, but this one really stood out to
me, resembling Kandahar Afghan, but for the beautiful violet flowers, truly
gorgeous, and exclusive to Kykeon Plants.
