Rare Japanese pharmaceutical poppy.

I have had a few people asking me if I had any seeds from this strain. But I haven’t been looking for new poppies to grow for a couple of years so hadn’t heard of it. I have acquired a bit more land to grow stuff on, so decided to look them up. The only site I have found is a US one, that is selling a pure white strain for a criminal about of money. I have bought some and will attempt to grow some this season. I may not have a lot this season, but I will regrow them next year [2018]. I will be selling them for a reasonable price as well.

NOTE: I HAVE NOT SOURCED THESE SEEDS FORM A TRUE AND TRUSTED SOURCE. SO, I HAVE NO IDEA IF THESE SEEDS ARE 100% THE REAL DEAL.

This plant looks like a white Kykeon Afghan, you do get the odd pure white flower from this form. the flower looks the same, the leaves look the same, the pods look the same and the seeds are the extract same colour!!!

In my option this guy has bought some seed from me in the past, got a pure white flower and then decided to pass it off as Ikkanshu, and then charged people $39.00 for 100 seeds. Mr Organical Botanicals Dot Com is a crook, beware!!!!

That said if you want a pure white form of the pink and white Kykeon Afghan this is the one for you!

Hello folks my name is Farmer Dodds, I grow rare and interesting herbs and ethnobotanicals as a hobby, and over time I have started to amass an interesting collection of stuff, manly Papaver somniferum and cold hardy members of the Solanaceae family, along with other rare hardy ethnobotanicals, my stock has grown large enough over the years to allow me to share some with you.

Kykeon (from the Greek “to mix, stir”) was a beverage of water and barley (sometimes flavored with mint or thyme) popular among the working, 'lower’ class of ancient Greece. In Homer’s Illiad it is described as a mixture of water, barley, herbs and ground goat cheese (Book XI) and the drink is also mentioned in the Odyssey Book X when the sorceress Circe uses it, mixed with honey, to make her potion. Kykeon is most famous for its use in the Rites of Demeter at the city of Eleusis where it was used by initiates to experience the mystery of death and rebirth in the ritual which has come to be known as The Eleusinian Mysteries. This mixture, however, differed significantly from the common drink in that it had psychoactive properties, most likely caused by the fungus Ergot on the barley gathered around Eleusis, which allowed participants in the Mysteries to reach a fuller understanding of their purpose in life and to shed their fear of death(as testimonials from ancient writers who participated in the Mysteries attest). In the time of the Roman Empire Kykeon was still a popular drink made from water, wine, honey and barley with various herbs added to individual taste.
